Fox 40 Prospect Challenge (West Coast): Zandbergen looking to make the FPC top 100

80+ receiving yards and 2 touchdowns is what this young tight end and defensive end accomplished his first year playing football.

Suiting up for the Westdale Warriors for one year, Daniel Zandbergen has already fallen in love with a sport that he says requires “physicality, knowledge, and intelligence”. He states that his first major experience with playing football was this season where they lost in the GSL Championship.

However, that has not deterred him from learning as much as possible. He goes on to say, “I try to always learn as much as I can about the sport by watching it and I also practice catching and route-running.”

For the FPC, Zandbergen wants to make it to the Top 100 selection camp, but also to improve his football skills and to get recognition by the other coaches.

Daniel is aware of the hard work that he will need to do in order to accomplish this goal and uses other football players to look up to to keep motivated and inspired. “My football idol is Kurt Warner because people thought that he wasn’t good enough to be in the NFL and he was almost going to get cut from his team,” he says. “But then his coach gave him a chance and he played really well and ended up leading the Rams all the way to winning a Superbowl.”

This young athlete will go far if he keeps looking ahead and works hard to accomplish the goals he sets out for himself.
