Gaiters offer ‘truly enriching experience’

Bishop’s adds two provincial commits to their 2020 class.

Lucas Desbouis, a defensive back from Cégep de Trois-Rivières, and Benjamyn Lachaine, a defensive lineman from Cégep régional de Lanaudière, are ready to make a difference with the Bishop’s Gaiters.

Lucas Desbouis

When Lucas Desbouis chose the Gaiters, he knew it was exactly what he wanted.

“I decided to commit to this school because the facilities at Bishop’s University are really amazing, especially their sports facilities,” he says. “I also chose this university because it will be a truly enriching experience for me to play for this great football team and mostly to study in English and to be able to finish my studies by being completely bilingual.”

The potential sociology student adds that, “I think that the coaching staff at Bishop’s University is very competent and really close to their players. I especially like the way players are coached at Bishop.”

Desbouis spent four years playing with Les Diablos du Cégep de Trois-Rivières (RSEQ Division 2). He is from Bois-des-Filion, Québec. Standing at 5’11″, 160lbs, he was named as the ‘best defensive player’ for the 2018-2019 season.

Benjamyn Lachaine

For Benjamyn Lachaine, Bishop’s offered him a chance to remain at his defensive lineman position. He said he chose the school because of the football program and facilities.

“The coaching staff look cool and very close with the players,” he adds.

The future history major is 6’2″, 265lbs. From 2012 to 2015, he played with Les Béliers d’Henri-Bourassa (RSEQ). He then spent two years with Les Aigles de l’école de l’Amitié (RSEQ) before joining Les Triades du Cégep régional de Lanaudière (RSEQ Division 3) for three.

In 2013, the product of L’Assomption, Québec won an academic award. In 2015, he was named as ‘defensive lineman of the year.’
