Gee-Gees draw in CFC Prospect Game specialist, plus another

Ottawa adds two Ontario commits to their 2020 class.

CFC10 Zach Copeland, a kicker from Parkside Collegiate Institute who also participated in the CFC Prospect Game, and Braeden Cruji, a linebacker from the Kingston Junior Gaels, will be heading to the nation’s capital after signing with the Ottawa Gee-Gees.

CFC10 Zach Copeland

For Zach Copeland, there was a lot to like about the Gee-Gees.

“Overall, I had a great gut feeling about the University of Ottawa,” Copeland said. “They have a very strong football program and facilities. The city of Ottawa is very appealing to me, and I developed a great relationship with their coaching staff throughout my recruiting process. I also had an excellent time on my official visit.”

Copeland added that he really likes the coaching staff. “They all seem very committed and passionate about football and stressed how I could be an important asset to their team,” he said.

Interested in human kinetics, Copeland noted that the school has a very strong kinesiology program.

The 6’2, 200lbs kicker and punter played for the Parkside CI Stampeders (TVRA) in his hometown of London, Ontario. In grade 10, he helped the Stampeders win a WOSSAA championship against Catholic Central High School. He also participated in the inaugural CFC Prospect Game on TSN.

Braeden Cruji

Braeden Cruji is from Napanee, Ontario, and he played with the Kingston Junior Gaels (OPFL) as a linebacker and running back. In seven games played in 2019, he had 23 tackles, 12 assisted tackles and one tackle for loss. He also had one sack, one fumble and two forced fumbles.
