Gee-Gees welcome d-lineman to team

Gee-Gees add a provincial commit to their 2019 class.

Joshua Mascoll-Medeiros, a defensive lineman from Laurier High School, is heading to the nation’s capital after signing with the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees.

“uOttawa gave me the sense of family as well as it is a bilingual university, so that helped a lot with choosing schools,” said Mascoll-Medeiros. “The team is in a great place to move on to bigger goals and I love that feeling of being in the hunt of a championship. I also know I few people on the team, so for me that sense of family was even better.”

Mascoll-Medeiors, who is interested in criminology, added that, “The coaching staff, I believe, is one of the best in the OUA if not Canada. They really show that they care for the players even outside of the game and I can’t wait to have them help better my football career.”

Mascoll-Medeiros has played with the Forest City Thunderbirds (OFC), the Laurier Rams (TVRA) and the London Junior Mustangs (OPFL). The 6’3, 235lbs defensive end and tackle calls London, Ontario, home. In 2018, he helped the Jr. Mustangs win a OPFL championship. He also played at the Pop Warner Super Bowl in 2015 and 2016

In 2016, he participated in the Fox 40 Prospect Challenge where he received the ‘defensive player of the game’ award. “It was a great experience, and really good for my game and especially for exposure,” Mascoll-Medeiros said about the FPC.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
