Gibuku started playing in high school with the RSEQ Juvenile Division 1’s Saint Jean Eudes Condors. He signed with CEGEP Division 1 team Notre-Dame de Foy for the next season.

The safety has been part of the All-Star team in 2013, team QMS in 2015 and was part of the team Quebec in 2016.

He decided to play for Notre-Dame de Foy because he felt like he belongs there.

“All the players are like brothers, but they don’t let that win over the game,” said Gibuku.  “They are as competitive as I am.”

“I knew it was my place.”

For the athlete, the best moment of the 2015 season was their first game against Jean-Eude.

“The vibe throughout the game was amazing,” said Gibuku.  “It was one on my greatest games ever, and we won.”

“It was such a good feeling.”

The most influencial people in his life are his mother and his former head coach Olivier Turcotte Létourneau. He affirms that his mother has always been there to push him to the max and help to build him into the player and man he is today.

“Olivier Turcotte Létourneau is the coach who believed the most in me throughout my whole football career in his team,” added the player.  “Sometimes he was hard on me, but only when he needed to.”

“I will always be thankful for what he has done for me.”

Gibuku admitted to be open to any CIS schools. His goal would be to play with either the Laval Rouge et Or or the Montreal Carabins. The team philosophy will help him to make his choice when it will be the time.

“If a team wants me to do all the road to the Vanier cup with them, I will be there and I will play football like I know I can.” mentioned the safety.

At the moment, Gibuku says he hasn’t paid a lot of attention to his CIS recruitment. His mind is entirely focused on the next season.

“I am a competitor, and I can be aggressive,” said the player.  “My goal is to win, and to bring my team to the victory.”

“I will do whatever it takes to get there.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
