Gabriel began his gridiron journey with the Seminaire Saint Joseph Vert et Or.  After one season with the team, he moved to Saguenay, where he suited up for four years with his high school team, Seminaire Chicoutimi Titans.

Currently, the Quebec defensive end is playing for CEGEP Division 3 team, Chicoutimi Cougars.  Last season, he experienced a special gridiron highlight.

“My most memorable football experience is without any doubt is the Bol D’Or,” recalled Gabriel.  “We were hosting the game so my family, my friends, basically everyone I knew was there.”
“Unfortunately we lost that game, but still there was so much hype around that game and so many people that even if we lost, I’ll always remember the feeling I had just being there.”

During his time with the Cougars, Gabriel has received a number of honours including Rookie of the Year and a CEGEP Division 3 All-Star selection.

Throughout the year, the Cougars defensive end undergoes a rigorous training regimen.

“In the preseason, we workout at the gym two to four times a week and we combine this with agility and cardio once a week finishing with a pool or a yoga,” describes Gabriel.  “It changes from week to week.”

One individual who has motivated Gabriel to succeed on and off the field is Head Coach Martin Gagnon.

“The person that inspires me the most is my head coach Martin Gagnon,” expresses the Cougars standout.  “He showed me that whether it’s in football or in life, if you want to be a winner, you got to think like one.”

“Basically, you must have the good attitude.”

As for the recruitment process, Gabriel has not given much thought to life after CEGEP because he still has two more seasons left with the Cougars.  Additionally, he is solely focused on the present.

“My plans right now are simple,” explains the Quebec defensive end.  “I want to win the Bol D’Or and be successful at school.”

“I’m just trying to focus on those goals at the moment.”

Overall, the game has given Gabriel a new understanding for intensity and how he can apply that into all gridiron and life endeavours.

“I learned that in everything you do, you got to give 100 percent,” says Gabriel.  “Even with the smallest things because most of the times it’s what make a difference.”
