London wide receiver newest recruit to join OUA team’s 2015 class.

The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks have announced the signing of Noah Olynyk to their football program.

Olynyk, who is a 5’9, 165 pound wide receiver from London, Ontario, joins the team for the 2015 OUA season.Β  The Ontario offensive standout has played with both the Saunders Sabres of the Thames Valley Regional Athletic Association (TVRAA) and London Jr Mustangs of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).

β€œNoah is a great slot receiver and runs very crisp routes,” commented Golden Hawks Head Coach Michael Faulds of the newest Golden Hawk.Β  β€œHe has the ability to run jet sweeps as we’ve seen him do many times with the Jr Mustangs in the OVFL.”

For his part, it came down to one decisive factor for Olynyk and it was cemented while he arrived at the Waterloo campus for his official visit.

β€œIt was a very easy decision, why wouldn’t you want to go to a very well-known academic school,” expressed the wide receiver.Β  β€œDuring my first time being at the Laurier I got to meet the Dean of Kinesiology, what he said to me played a big factor in my decision.”

β€œWhile standing beside my parents he introduced himself, he later said “I know that this is your decision and a big part in your life, but look beside you, these two people have helped you every step of the way to get to where you are, think of them when you make your choice as well.”.Β  It shocked both my parents and myself to hear that, because it was so real, and true.”

Ultimately, Olynyk felt at ease and is looking forward to becoming part of the Golden Hawks gridiron fold.

β€œWhen Coach Faulds and Coach [Dwayne] Cameron took me on an academic tour of the campus I felt like I was at home and that’s all I needed to commit. As for the football side of it, this team has a lot of very good coaches and with the talent they have already I’m excited to be a part of it.”
