Great arm & centerpiece choose nation’s capital

Two more Gee-Gees added to 2013 recruiting class

Ottawa Gee-Gees football has added two more skilled players to an already talented class of recruits. Vancouver native Hunter Robinson will join the team at quarterback while Chris Lewis will provide another pair of legs at the running back position.

Robinson had an excellent season last year with the renowned Vancouver Island College. Robinson was part of an exceptional class of rookies to come out of Vancouver College with a record setting eight players who will join CIS teams.

He led his team to an 11-3 season record which includes a trip to the B.C championship game last season. The 6-foot-1 quarterback is said to have a good vision of the field and a strong arm which can possibly be attributed to his background as a baseball player.

“We brought him in for a brief visit and he was very impressive and looks to have a great arm,” said football head coach Jamie Barresi. “We have been watching this kid on video for some time and we very impressed with what we have seen.”

Ottawa’s other addition, Chris Lewis, is expected to bring elusive running and a great attitude to the Gee-Gees program. The running back was the centerpiece for his team, the Assumption Lions, last season as he carried them all the way to the OFSAA Western bowl in 2012.

Lewis uses his vision of the game and his football knowledge to avoid tackles and run the ball downfield. “Chris is a very good student and has good knowledge of the game and that will be important for him as he comes into the program,” commented Barresi.

Both players will officially join the Gee-Gees at the start of training camp which begins August 15

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
