CEGEP running back newest recruit to commit to AUS team’s 2014 class.

Travis Jennings was hooked on one school’s atmosphere as well as the strength of the gridiron and academic programs.

Consequently, the 5’10, 185 pound running back from Rexdale, Ontario has committed to the Saint Mary’s Huskies for the 2014 AUS season.

“I picked Saint Mary’s because I love the school and the environment around it,” explained Jennings of his decision.  “The teammates I met were cool people as well as the ones I knew and I’ve looked up to for my most of my football career.”

“The school provides me with an opportunity to go to school and better myself as a person. As well as on the field, I know I can come in and be an impact player right away.”

Recently, the Ontario offensive standout completed a stint with CEGEP Division 1 team, Champlain-Lennoxville Cougars.  This past season, Jennings played a significant role in the team’s Bol D’Or Championship victory over Vieux-Montreal Spartiates.  With two minutes remaining in the game, he scored a touchdown to seal the championship victory for the Cougars.

Other teams Jennings has suited up for include Metro Toronto Wildcats of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) and high school squad Don Bosco Eagles of the Toronto District College Athletic Association (TDCAA).

Jennings credits a few individuals for getting him to this juncture in his gridiron career.

“I would like to give a shout out to Rob Ford and the Cougar family for all their love and support,” expressed Jennings.

As for the Huskies, the team is happy to welcome Jennings into the fold.

“We are very happy to have Sam join us at Saint Mary’s,” commented Huskies Head Coach Perry Marchese.  “He is a great addition to the family.”
