Mt. Boucherie (46), Kelowna (22)
“It was a tough game for us today. We hurt ourselves with mental mistakes and penalties.Ā  It is still a process for us to do all the things right to win football games,” explained head coach of the Owls, Chris Cartwright.

46-22 is not easy to swallow. “We have great kids and people trying to figure it all out.Ā  We will get there,” commented Coach Cartwright.

Mt. Boucherie will be going into this week’s game against CFC50 Terry Fox who are the defending provincial champs so they may be able to carry that momentum going into the match, while Kelowna may have a more competitive game against Centennial and can work out some kinks and clean up some issues.

Centennial (14), WJ Mouat (44)
WJ Mouat is just getting their regular season going and what a way to start with a 44-14 win over the Centennial Centaurs. It wouldn’t be until the 4th quarter that the Centaurs would put some points on the board. Until then the Hawks led the way.

In the first quarter, Mouat would score on 3 touchdown runs bringing the score to 21-0. They would add one more rushing touchdown in the second quarter going into the half, 28-0.

Scoring another major on a 39-yard run and a 24-yard field goal, the score would be 38-0 at the end of the 4th quarter. That’s when the Centaurs would come alive and add a 15-yard touchdown pass from Max Kennedy to Keiran Little. Kennedy would add a 40-yard punt return for touchdown with Uriah Hestdalen making good on the 2-pt. conversion. However, the Hawks wouldn’t settle for that and finished the game off with a 2-yard run bringing the final score to 45-14.

Mouat’s Nathan Hausermann went for 298 yards on 26 carries to go along with 4 touchdowns. Eddie Escobal had 1 rushing touchdown and 4 tackles, while Ezra Garcia had 70 yards on 5 carries and 1 touchdown. The Hawks would finish with almost 400 yards of total offense, all of them rushing.

Centennial quarterback, Max Kennedy would complete 8/18 on 122 yards and 1 passing touchdown. Defensively, Uriah Hestdalen would register 9 combined tackles and 2 TFLs, while teammate Antonio Bianchi would have 7 tackles and 1 TFL.

Mouat will go on to play Mission on Friday while Centennial will meet up with the Kelowna Owls.

Mt. Douglas Rams (1-2, 1-2) 28, Belmont (1-2) 13
The Rams were led by stellar play from both the defensive and offensive lines, en route to a 28 to 13 victory over Belmont. Ā Although the weather was less than ideal, we are not going to use the weather as an excuse for committing 5 turnovers on the day, allowing Belmont to stay in the game. We will continue to work hard on ball security this week, and get better in all areas as we face a very explosive and talented team from South Delta this week.

On offensive side of the ball, Ben Pierik scored on a couple of touchdowns on runs of ā€Ž2 yards, Zairech Kremler rushed for another major from 6 yards out and Sebastian Hansen had the biggest play of the game for Mount Douglas on 98 interception return for a major to earn the hard fought victory over Belmont. Ā Zairech Kremler ā€Žhad an outstanding game on both sides of the ball, and was the Rams leading ball carrier with 102 yards on the ground. Ā Dante Carbone was the leading receiver with 78 yards, and Gideone Kremler passed for 91 yards in his action at quarterback.

The Rams defense was terrific and forced 3 turnovers, and recorded 4 sacks in the contest. The defense had major contributions from a host of Rams. Ā Ivan Xu and Zairech Kremler were again tremendous and had 5 tackles and 1 sack each, Aiden Bertuzzi ā€Žchipped in with 5 tackles, Sebastian Hansen and CFC100 Soren Hallschmid recorded 4 tackles and 1 interception each, CFC100 Jake Ounsted had 4 tackles plus 2 sacks, and Sam Mosky had 4 tackles.

They will have to continue that hard hitting and swarming to the ball this week as they go up against Valleyview on Friday and South Kamloops hits up Westsyde.

Argyle will face undefeated Windsor on Friday and Holy Cross will go on to play John Barsby.

Langley (0), GW Graham (19)
In another shutout in AA action on the weekend was GW Graham’s 19-0 victory over Langley, but they would fight for every inch. Contributors to that winning score for the Grizzlies would be Andrew Locke, Von Richardson, and Darius Kelly who would all get a touchdown. The defense would keep the Langley Saints off the board with solid performances by Jake Troyan, Colin Campbell, and Cooper Middleton.

The Grizzlies will look to remain undefeated when the play Robert Bateman on Friday and Langley will look to clean up their play in order to play Samuel Roberts Technical also on Friday.

From what we hear, Vernon is a playoff favorite and this performance would allow us to see why. Vernon will work this week to clean up some things and go on to play Valleyview on Friday, while Westsyde’s opponent on Friday will be South Kamloops.

Prince George (18), Nechako Valley (14)
In a tight one that would see defensive play be the deciding factor in the end result, PGSS would take this one over NVSS, 18-14.

PGSS would open the scoring with a 17-yard field goal by Noah Williams, 3-0. They would go on to score again in the first quarter on an interception return for a touchdown. NVSS would answer back, though, in the second quarter with an interception return for a touchdown of their own bringing the score to 10-6 for PGSS going into the half.

“The Viking’s offence had some troubles getting going and continuously shot themselves in the foot with penalties. QB Corbin Brown went 9/19 for 111 yards with 1 TD and 2 INTs. Brown also got some work done on the ground with 15 carries for 84 yards, ” said head coach Sheldon Brown. “Will Pippy had a game high 5 catches for 44 yards and caught a 2 point conversion. Tyler Cherry had 1 catch for 30 yards and the only offensive TD for the Vikes.”

Polar’s Braden Reed would add a 25-yard rushing touchdown and Gage Bernard would have the successful 2-pt conversion pass from Williams. NVSS would attempt the takeover in the fourth quarter adding another touchdown reception for 22-yards, but time would run out bringing the final score in favor of PGSS, 18-14.

Braden Reed would go for 112 yards on 9 carries as well as 1 touchdown, and register 7 tackles and 1 TFL, while teammate, Noah Williams wound have 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions, and 6 tackles.

“The Viking defence forced 3 turnovers and was lead by Corbin Brown, Coleson Jenson and Tyler Lang. Corbin Brown finished the game with 8 tackles and 1 fumble recovery. Coleson Jensen finished with 5 tackles and Tyler Lang finished with 4 tackles and an interception for a TD! Addison Miller-Gauithier also had an interception,” commented Coach Brown.

Hugh Boyd (14), Windsor (25)
At the half, Windsor was leading the Hugh Boyd Trojans 13-7 which would eventually to a 25-14 lead for a final score allowing Windsor to stay undefeated – a great way to open your regular season.

In a back and forth affair, the two teams would trade scores throughout the game. Windsor, quarterback, Ryan Baker, had 3 touchdown passes along with 1 rushing touchdown as well as 8 tackles on defense. Julien Perri would be on the receiving end of those 3 touchdown receptions.

As for Hugh Boyd, quarterback Byron Ruvalcaba would hit Zach Jackson with a 45-yard reception as well as Isaiah Daniels who would also get a score. Notables on defense for the Trojans was Daniels and linebacker Ryan Jensen.

Hugh Boyd will face Ballenas this week while Windsor will go on to face Argyle.

Robert Bateman (0), Pitt Meadows (16)
For the Pitt Meadows Marauders, the defense played a solid game allowing them to shut out the Robert Bateman Wolves, 16-0.

“Tato Ferreyro lead the team with tackles (8) plus a forced fumble and fumble recovery. Ā Both Tato and Tayden Mountford played awesome coming up from their safety position. Ā Brandon Hunt and Ryan Crockett both had key picks that helped swing momentum our way,” said head coach, Bubba Montabello of his team’s performance.

Scoreless after the first quarter, the Marauders scored in the second quarter going into the half, 6-0. After a blocked punt in the third quarter deep in the Wolves territory, Pitt Meadows capitalized on a field goal bringing the score to 9-0 going into the last quarter of the game.

“We had a huge punt block by Angus McDonald which lead to a touchdown to Tayden Montford from Tato Ferreyro. Ā Brandon Hunt ran the ball effectively and with great determination,” said Coach Montabello.

The Marauders scored their last touchdown off an interception in Bateman’s own end – final score was 16-0.

“Disappointing game for our program. We were not good enough today. Ā Same story different week though. Tough win when you drop passes, fumble the ball, throw INT’s, and get a punt blocked deep in your own end. Ā We have got to find a way to stop diggingĀ deep holes for ourselves,” commented head coach David Mills of the Wolves. “Defensively we played well, minus one drive.Ā Ā Offensively we couldn’t finish drives because we kept turning the ball over and hurting ourselves withĀ drops.”

Even though the score may suggest otherwise, Coach Montabello said this of the game;

“Bateman a very physical team and it was a very physical battle all game. Ā It was a fight by both teams all game with no one giving up. Ā I am very proud of how our team responded to that physicality.Ā  It was a great team win with both offensive and defence doing their part.”

Bateman will go on to play GW Graham on Friday while Pitt Meadows will face the Abbotsford Panthers on Friday.

Samuel Roberts Technical (14), Abbotsford (49)
Abbotsford walked away with a convincing 49-14 win over SRT this past weekend. There were multiple players who would have solid performances for the Panthers. Defensively, linebacker Johnny Stevenson would register 11 tackles and 1 forced fumble. Teammate, Owen Parker, would have 5 tackles, 3 pass breakups, and 1 interception.

Abbotsford will play Pitt Meadows this next week and SRT matches up against the Langley Saints on Friday.

John Barsby (21), Ballenas (13)
In the annual Border Battle, the John Barsby Bulldogs would prevail and beat the Ballenas Whalers, 21-13.

With the battle being won in the trenches for the Bulldogs, Cameron Wright was able to carry his team to keep their undefeated season. He would have 2 touchdown passes, one to Zach Taylor and Kole Postema. Steen Rassmussen would have 1 rushing touchdown.
