The only score for the Trojans was a touchdown reception by Reace Mok from Quarterback Byron Ruvalcaba.

Clarence Fulton (13), Windsor (49)

In a lopsided win, the Windsor Dukes downed the Clarence Fulton Maroons in the quarterfinals of AA BC high school football this past weekend with a score of 49-13.

“Windsor is very deserving of their number one ranking. we were out hit, out blocked, out played and out coached on Saturday,” said Coach Mike Scheller of the Maroons. “They are very fast and physical and they kind of stunned us early.”

Coming out at the half with the score, 35-0, the Maroons rebounded a bit, however it was not enough to overtake the Dukes who have dominated the AA scene all year.

“Caden Doyle proved himself to be one of the best players in the province with his 2 tds in the second half. The kid is pure effort. Ike Olson had a very good game,” commented Coach Scheller.

Doyle would have an 11-yard touchdown reception from Olson in the third quarter to go along with an 80-yard kick return in the fourth. He would end up rushing for 34 yards on 5 carries. Olson would finish with 4/11 for 48 yards passing and 1 touchdown pass, plus 2 interceptions. He would also rush for 28 yards on 7 carries. Rumsey would have 15 yards on 10 carries, and Cole Hunter would add 28 yards on 5 carries as well as 1 reception for 25 yards.

On defense for the Maroons, Olson led his team with 9 tackles, Quin Williamson and Liam Gombrich would each have 3, and Evan Trottier would register 4 tackles on the night.

“It was a very good season for us. in the end, we had a quality team,” mentioned Coach Scheller. He goes on to say that the coaching staff had a “great” season with the team and that they came to practice everyday ready to work and get better. He also gives a shout out to his grade 12 athletes.

“I can’t say enough about our Grade 12’s. I have been around these guys a lot between football and rugby and they are an exceptional group. These kids have had to play varsity football since grade 9 due to our low numbers and they have been excellent representatives for our athletic program. Many will have athletic futures after Grade 12.”

Coach Scheller also wanted to say thank you to his coaching staff specifically.

“I would really like to thank Bryan Cragg, Kevin Stecyk, Ben Olson, Dale Olson, Ethan Schulz , Clay Coles and Dave Hobbs for their excellence and dedication as assistant coaches to our program. They donated hundreds of hours to these kids and it is appreciated.”

John Barsby (6), Vernon (20)

The Vernon Panthers will be moving on to the semifinal round with their 20-6 win over the John Barsby Bulldogs this past weekend.

Quarterback Thomas Hyett would have 1 passing touchdown to Riley Macgillivray and Brad Hladik would get a pick-six return for a touchdown. Perez Vermeulen would have 2 successful field goals on the night.

Charles Lemay would lead the team in defense with 9 tackles and 1 pass breakup. Trey Defoor and Liam Alder would each have 8 tackles apiece.

Argyle (7), GW Graham (21)

In another low scoring game in the quarterfinals, the GW Graham Grizzlies would top the Argyle Pipers, 21-7 to move on to the next round.

Head Coach for the Pipers, Wayne Theobald, said that penalties “killed” them and just couldn’t get it together enough to take the lead.

For the Grizzlies, quarterback Bentley Thomas would have 2 passing touchdowns – both to Jesse Hough and Von Richardson would rush for 186 yards on 33 carries and 1 rushing touchdown.
