Intensity and passion of Laurier Golden Hawks draws in CFC100, other commit

Laurier adds two GTA commits to their Class of 2018.

Markcus Jean-Loescher, a linebacker from Birchmount Park Colligate, and CFC100 Connor Irwin-Lewis, a quarterback from Football North Clarkson, come from opposite ends of the GTA, but now they will be drawn to the same location after signing with the Laurier Golden Hawks.

When Markcus Jean-Loescher was looking at schools, he kept his goals in the back of his mind. “I honestly chose to commit to Laurier because of what it has to offer me as a player and student. As a football player, my goal is to win championships and develop into an amazing football player to play pro, and I believe that the coaches can help me achieve those goals,” he said.

The Golden Hawks coaches ensured that Jean-Loescher felt comfortable while visiting the school. He said that he was greeted with smiles and that each coach took the time to tell him about the school and program.

“From warm-up to pre-game rituals to seeing them coach in the game I saw just how intense and passionate they are about football and immediately wanted to be apart of that,” he added. “It’s assuring as a football player to see coaches be that enthusiastic for there players and wanting to see them succeed.”

Interested in kinesiology, Jean-Loescher said on the academic front, the school’s smaller campus “gives you a good environment to feel at home, which I find great.”

Jean-Loescher, who is 6’1, 225lbs, spent four years with the Birchmount Park CI Panthers (Toronto District Secondary School Athletic Association). The product of Scarborough, Ontario, played one year of junior varsity with the Pickering Dolphins (OPFL) and one year with the Scarborough Thunder (OFL). In 2015, he was an OVFL all-star.

“I’m excited to be a Golden Hawk for the next four to five years of my life,” Jean-Loescher said. “I can’t wait to get started at training camp in August.”

Connor Irwin-Lewis attended T.A. Blakelock High School where he played for the Tigers (Halton Secondary School Athletic Association) before joining Football North Clarkson. The 6’2, 185lbs athlete is from Burlington, Ontario, and played with the Burlington Stampeders (OFC). He is interested in either business or engineering.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
