Jake is entering his rookie season playing for the Hamilton Ironmen of the OVFL and is more than ready for the challenge.  Taking the helm under centre, Jake led his Ironmen to a 39-0 road win versus the Etobicoke Eagles in the OVFL season opener on June 2nd, 2013.

Jake finished the game 7 for 9 for 208 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception.  His first touchdown of the game was a 76 yard toss, when he found a streaking Ironmen receiver down the sideline that put the Ironmen up 18-0. He also terrorized the Eagles defense on his feet, scrambling for 46 yards on 6 attempts.

Although it was his first game under centre for the Ironmen, Jake looked very comfortable commanding the Ironmen at the line of scrimmage. Yet this isn’t anything new for the young quarterback, Jake led his Cardinal Newman Senior Football team to the Hamilton Catholic High School City Championship in 2012, in his rookie year playing senior football.

Jake adds that championship to a long list of accolades that he has already achieved in football including; MVP 3 times, Offensive MVP twice, Rookie of the Year twice.  With all the awards he’s received throughout the years, Jake  lists his recent football championship he won with Cardinal Newman in 2012 as his most memorable football moment thus far.

Ironmen head coach Joe Wade give high praise to the rookie pivot.

“Jake is a great prospective student athlete, he possesses all the attributes you look for on the field in a quarterback and more importantly off the field he is a great kid who has all his best days ahead of him,” says Wade.

While successful, Jake continually has one goal he continues to strive for on the field.

“I’m a great team player, love my friends and together;  I just want to win, simple,” says Jake.
