Is a Canadian pipeline emerging in Kansas City?

NFL’s Chiefs demonstate interest in pair of Canadians, sign another on 1 year contract

On the heels of Laurent Duvernay-Tardif’s success, the Kansas City Chiefs are spreading their wings north of the border.

It appears that the Chiefs have connected with Elie Bouka.  The 6’1, 205 pound defensive back from Laval, Quebec has disclosed to the Kansas City Star that talked with him and that hopes that the Chiefs will be one of the teams he completes drills in front of at the end of the month.

Of note, Bouka has the same agent as Duvernay-Tardif who is an offensive lineman with the Chiefs.

This is a silver lining for the defensive back after he was sidelined during the 2015 CWUAA season after sustaning a Achilles injury during the Calgary Dinos training camp last fall.

Despite the setback, the injury has not unfazed him and teams have been interested.  Recently, the Arizona Cardinals brought Bouka down for a visit. Currently, the defensive standout is working hard so he can get clearance from his medical team so he can be in a position to test in front of interested teams at the end of April before the NFL Draft.

At last year’s CIS East-West Bowl, Bouka clocked the fastest 40 yard dash (4.41, 4,47).

However, Bouka is not the only one making some noise in Kansas City.

This past Tuesday, media outlets have reported that a source close to the Chiefs said the team brought in David Onyemata on a visit prior to the NFL Draft.

As per the team’s policy, the Chiefs do not publicly confirm players coming for those visits.

Last month, the 6’3, 300 pound defensive lineman made history in Winnipeg last month as he was the first Manitoba Bison to host an Pro Day and 17 NFL teams as well as 1 CFL team were in attendance.  His testing results were as follows:

Vertical Jump: 33”
Broad Jump: 9’11”
Bench Press: 33 reps
40 Yard Dash (1): 5.09
40 Yard Dash (2): 5.06
3-Cone: 7.25 secs
Pro Agility (5-10-5) shuttle: 4.65 secs

Recently, Onyemata capped his fourth season with the Bisons by winning the JP Metras Award (CIS Outstanding Lineman of the Year) and being selected as both a CIS First-Team All-Canadian and CWUAA All-Star.

The NFL Draft will be hosted in Chicago from April 28-30th

Previous to the Packers, Mulumba suited up for both NCAA Division 1 team, Eastern Michigan Eagles and CEGEP Division 1’s Vieux-Montreal Spartiates.
