Jesse Luketa, a family man dedicated to the game, has his heart set on attending a college without his single mother having to pay a dime.
Growing up he played in the National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA) with the South Ottawa Mustangs.
The outside linebacker also played for the St. Patrickās Fighting Irish in the National Capital Secondary Schools Athletic Association (NCSSAA).
āThe highlight of last season for me would be being able to compete in the U.S.,ā said Jesse, who now attends and plays with the Mercyhurst Prep Lakers in Erie, PA.
His summer football plan while he is home in Ottawa includes training day in and day out with Gridiron Academy.
In the future he hopes to attend the university of his choice and study kinesiology, but if he is given the opportunity to continue to play the game at the professional level then it will be a blessing.
āMy recruitment process has just begun, as a 2018 OLB Iāve already received plenty of interest [and] mail,ā explained Jesse.
The Laker is considering his hometown school Carleton for now, but has also received an offer from Kentucky Christian Academy.
He is also generating interest from other schools, and schools such as Penn State and Northwestern are recruiting him the hardest.
Moreover, Jesse has taken multiple unofficial visits to Penn State and Buffalo.
āI know what work needs to be put into my craft to achieve my goals that I have set,ā added the linebacker.
Aside from his mom, the most influential person in his life is his mentor Henroc Muamba, a former first round CFL draft pick.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
