ONT (OFSAA): Putt leads CFC # 11 Lions to first ever Bowl win

There is a first time for everything.

CFC TOP 100’s Liam Putt led CFC # 11 Assumption Lions to their first ever OFSAA Bowl victory yesterday afternoon in Etobicoke.  The Lions defeated CFC # 48 Westdale Warriors 24-13.

In the first quarter, Andre Toic was successful on an 18 yard field goal to open the scoring in the game.  Later in the frame, Emmett Putt ran into the end zone for a three yard touchdown score to give the Lions a 10-0 lead.

The Warriors got on the scoreboard in the second quarter as pivot Sam Malavolta tallied a seven yard major.

At halftime, the Lions enjoyed a 10-6 lead over the Warriors.

In the second half, CFC TOP 100 pivot Liam Putt connected with Toic for a 27 yard touchdown reception.

Jacob Wolfenden snuck into the end zone for a one yard major in the fourth quarter.  However, that is as far as the Warriors would get as Emmett Putt scored a one yard touchdown to seal the victory for the Lions.

Liam Putt had 10 completions in 15 attempts for 168 passing yards and one touchdown to lead the Lions offensive unit.  Toic accumulated 76 receiving yards on three catches while Kurtis Loewig added 90 rushing yards.  Defensively, Blake McDonald and Tyson Erksine both had five tackles apiece.

As for the Warriors, Malavolta had 14 completions in 24 attempts for 190 passing yards and threw one interception.  Tyler Walker had 68 receiving yards on five catches.  Joey Ricottone led the defensive with nine tackles while Andrew Pacheco added seven tackles.

This was the Lions first OFSAA Bowl win in three attempts.
