With the withdrawal of the primary OFSAA Bowl Festival series sponsor, organizers were forced to seek an alternative venue as the Rogers Centre facility rental costs far exceeded the budget.
It was decided to allow each of the eighteen Athletic Associations to participate in a season ending Bowl game this year. One member association (NEOSSA) does not have any schools which offer football so the host Association (TDSAA) was granted one additional entry.
The nine games will be played over four days, with the match ups for 2013 being determined by a random draw. The final Bowl game to be played between the TDSSAA Champions and the GBSSA Champions will preserve the tradition of the Metro Bowl, which has been played annually since 1982. St. Joan of Arc (Barrie) has already secured a berth as the GBSSA champions.
This format is to be used for the 2013 season and will be further reviewed in 2014.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
