Maine add another Canuck; Sign CFC100 Clark Barnes

Maine love their Canadian content, and they’ve added another to their arsenal with the signing of CFC100 Clark Barnes out of CFC10 Clarkson Football North. The rangy wide receiver also had offers on the board from Liberty and Stony Brook, but it’s hard to resist the momentum that’s been building on campus in Maine this past season.

NCAA EARLY SIGNING DAY TRACKER

The Black Bears are members of the the Colonial Athletic Association, which they won for the second time this season after an 8-3 campaign that ended in the FCS Playoff semifinals. They were helped by a large contingent of Canadian talent including CFC100s Deshawn Stevens, Liam Dobson, Katley Joseph, Shaquille St-Lot and Justin Sambu, but Barnes notably lands in the playmaker category where he can help put more points up the scoreboard.

At 6’2″, 200lbs, he’s got all the size you can ask for in a DI receiver prospect, and already proven he can hang against American talent playing a full schedule down south at Clarkson Football North. CFC Lead Analyst, Clint Uttley, predicted that Barnes would garner a lot more attention this year after reclassifying,

“Barnes is coming off an impressive season at FN. At this point, it looks as though he’ll be returning to FN as he looks to improve his game and possibly make a bigger splash which he will be able to do as FN is playing another highly competitive schedule. If Barnes lights it up again, I can’t see why he wouldn’t get an FBS offer.”

Barnes joins his teammates CFC100 Liam Dick and CFC100 Kail Dava, who also announced their signings earlier in the day.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
