Β Week 2 of the Recruit Ready 7v7 League kicked off under the lights at Murray Field Sunday night.Β The night featured some big games, and some big time players. All of which, lived up to the hype.Β

Β The Manitoba Commit had 4 TD’s and one of the nicest catches of theΒ year. Payton also added an Int onΒ DefenseΒ Β

Β For the 2nd week in a row,Β Jake takes home the D-POW Award.Β Another strong performanceΒ from Jake,Β includingΒ aΒ 3 INT game against the Undefeated Fighting Catholics.Β

Β Fighting Catholic’s: 2-0 (4-0)Β 

Remaining undefeated, the Fighting Catholic’s are led by the leagues bestΒ defense. Touting some of the best defensive HS players in the nation (Tomlinson ’21, LytleΒ ’21, PereiraΒ ’21), Tall-Rangy corner Robert ScottΒ ’21, athletic DB Evan HirstΒ β€˜22 and rising starΒ safety Dillano GlaudΒ ’24 make it extremely difficult to move the ball on them.Β 

Offensively, QB Lucas Van Norman continues to get it done. Targets Theo Karaholios ’21(holds multiple offers), Owen Johnson ’21Β and Jordan RomeroΒ ’21 have all been making plays of offence.Β 2 Way playerΒ SkylerΒ Griffith has also impressed on both sides of the ball.Β SkylerΒ isΒ someone to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.Β 

Β XL Trojans:Β 2-0 (4-0)Β 

Another undefeated team.Β XL Trojans,Β Winners of the “game of the week” against “DakΒ Boom”, are a scoring machine.Β Β One of the best QB’s in the country,Β JordanΒ HanslipΒ ’21 continues to be an absolute force. The Trojans offensive talent also includes prospects NegusΒ LewinΒ ’21(leading league in scoring), Payton Lake ’21, Trey White ’21 andΒ EveretteΒ Reid ’22. This givesΒ HanslipΒ one of the best receiving cores in the country. On Defense, LB JasonΒ RushatsiΒ ’21 continues to live up to the hype. Anyone watching can see why he is one of the best players in Canada.Β Β 

Not SRSS:Β 2-0 (4-0)Β 

Not SRSS continues to find ways to win games and remain undefeated. It starts at QB with Manitoba commit SawyerΒ ThiessenΒ ’21 at the helm. Offensive player of the week and Manitoba commitΒ PaytonΒ Falk ’21 had 4 TD’s including a catch of the year candidate. Falk also added an INT on defense. Athletic WR and CFC100Β MulaΒ YitnaΒ ’21Β hasΒ been making plays all over the field forΒ Thiessen. Falk andΒ YitnaΒ have also been a force on Defense for Not SRSS matching up with theΒ opponentsΒ top receivers.Β 

Β Springfield:Β 2-0 (3-1)Β 

Led by QB Tommy Walls ’21, Springfield is opening a lot of eyes in the first 2 weeks of league play. Walls, who is 2nd in league in TD passes continues to go out and win games. Wes Toledo ’21, Gage Richey ’21 and Wes Kwan ’21 have all impressed inΒ thereΒ ability to catch the ballΒ in traffic and make plays. On Defense, CalebΒ KratzΒ ’21 is 2nd in the league for INT while Gage Richey ’21 is right behind him. Richey has shown he is a baller, making plays on both sides of the ball.Β Β

Β Pirates:Β 1-1 (2-2)Β 

The Pirates came away withΒ anΒ OT win over the Raiders and a tough loss against undefeated Fighting Catholic’s. DB and Manitoba Commit Jake Nitychoruk ’21 is everywhere! Jake who took home D-POW award again this week had another 3 interceptions and was making plays all over the field. DB Jake Deneka ’23 has impressed on both side of the ball for the Pirates scoring both TD’s and is a prospect who’s stock has started to rise since the summer.Β Β 

Dak Boom:Β 1-1 (2-2)Β 

Dak Boom came up short in the game of the week to the undefeated XL Trojans. The game did not disappoint as it came down to the last play of the game. In the other game, Dak Boom was victorious over undefeated North Peg. QB Caden Calliguri ’22 showed his potential with a big night throwing 7 TD passes and moving the ball with ease. Two of the top prospects in Canada,Β Dallas SimsΒ ’23 and Mehki Tyrell ’22 lived up to the hype by hauling in 5 of the teams 7 touchdowns throughout the night. ReceiversΒ Adam GriemanΒ ’22, Matt ToyneΒ ’21 and Sean SevillanoΒ ’24, Ronin Francis ’21 all made big plays as well for the Dak Boom Offence. OnΒ Defense, Dario Macchia ’23 and Junior Munyaka ’22 looked really good. Joe Dibernardo ’22 was also impressive on the night with an INT.Β 

Β RR Youth:Β 1-1 (1-3)Β 

RR Youth got their first league win on Sunday in a game that came down to the last playΒ vs.Β the Raiders. QB and future star Blake Penner ’25 has been stellar in the first 2 weeks. Targets Elijah BarretΒ ’24, Tavin PariniΒ ’26, Daylon DonaldsonΒ ’25 and Onan Furst ’25 have all scored TD’s and showed why they are considered some of the best youth football players in the nation. OnΒ defense,Β John PfauΒ ’24 and LB Carlos Teklu ’25 both had a big time INT. Safety Chris Piotrowski ’24 is considered one of the best in the country for his class and showed why on Sunday. Also, Bryden Hyde ’25, JesseΒ DenekaΒ ’25 and Quiru Julian ’24 round out a defence full ofΒ some of the top youth in Canada.Β 

Talladega Knights:Β 1-1 (1-3)Β 

Another team with their first win of league play. ATH Owen Cassie β€˜21 had another great showing as he hauled in 3 TD’s and an interception on D.Β Cassie continues to see his recruiting stock rise each week.Β QB Zach Topping ’21 had a solid day throwing 5 TD’s. OnΒ DefenseΒ DB Ty Melnyk had an interception for the second week in a row.Β Β
