UPDATE
The Marauders football team began their 2017 season with training camp which started with two captain’s practices on August 10th and 11th. The remarkable recruiting class of over 50 rookies reported on August 12th. The Marauders, starting the regular season with a first week bye, gave the team and the many recruits that will be playing crucial roles much needed time to learn the playbook and adjust to the pace of OUA football.

The first week of training camp ended with a controlled scrimmage with the University of Windsor at Ron Joyce Stadium. Every single player on the team had a chance to play in this scrimmage to show the coaches their skills and why they deserve to crack the dress roster this season.

A true quarterback battle arose from camp after one of the veteran QB’s went down with an injury. Andreas Dueck was the one who came out on top and earned the starting position for the first regular season game against Carleton. Coach Knox stated that Dueck has an uncanny composure and is playing beyond his year’s right now.

The defense came away with four Interceptions on the night and also chipped in with a safety.
-The Carleton Ravens are coming off a week one comeback win over the Queens Gaels 22-17 at Richardson Stadium in Kingston. The Ravens collected nine sacks on the day with defensive linemen Tevin Bowen leading the way with 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble.

-The Marauders began their season last year against the Ravens which saw McMaster come away with a 40-10 victory.

TEAM BREAKDOWN
-McMaster looks to improve on their 6-2 record from last season where they finished third place and lost to the eventual Yates Cup Champions, Laurier Golden Hawks in the Yates Cup semi-finals.
-The Ravens also finished their season with a 6-2 record and will look to surpass its record with multiple new starters on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
