Maxville recruit lured by Ravens positive direction

Maxville offensive lineman newest recruit to join OUA team’s 2015 class.

The Carleton Ravens have announced the signing of Andrew McCourt to their football program.

McCourt, who is a 6’9, 325 pound offensive lineman from Maxville, Ontario will join the Ravens for the 2015 OUA season.

“Andrew has huge upside to go with his 6’9, 325 pound frame,” commented Ravens Head Coach Steve Sumarah.  “We have been tracking Andrew for two years and have seen a steady increase in both his footwork and physicality.”

“We are excited to work with him and see him develop over the next five years.”

For his part, the offensive lineman decided upon the Ottawa, Ontario campus due to academics and the strength of the football program.  Moreover, McCourt likes the positive direction the team is heading towards.

“I committed to Carleton because of the academic support they offer and they also have a good Criminology program,” explained McCourt of his decision.  “The coaching staff is great.”

“They’re a young team in the CIS and in their second year they almost made it into the playoffs. The football program is looking pretty good.”

Since the age of 10, McCourt has played for the Cornwall Wildcats organization, including three seasons with the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) squad.
