McGill’s academic prestige draws BC commit to Redmen

Redmen add an out-of-province commit to their Class of 2017.

Josh Lucas, a wide receiver from Mount Douglas Secondary, has a long flight ahead of him to reach La Belle Province where his new team awaits, the McGill Redmen.

Originally from Victoria, BC, Lucas, who is interested in either the Arts program or the Teaching program, said he committed to McGill because of their academic standards. It’s a bonus that the school is in Montreal. “What attracted me about McGill is the city of Montreal and the historic football program,” he said.

Starting his career at the tender age of ten, the 5’11, 170lbs athlete spent his high school days with the Mount Douglas Rams (BC Secondary Schools Athletic Association). A former champion in 2015 with the team, Lucas is ready to help the Redmen coaches obtain football glory.

“I think the coaching staff is very professional,” he said. “I’m excited to work with them.”

In 2016, Lucas was awarded the Don Brownlee Memorial Award by his coaches.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
