Ottawa defensive end receives first NCAA Division 1 offer.
This past Thursday, Neville Gallimore was doing his normal routine.
The 6β3, 280 pound defensive end from Ottawa, Ontario just finished up speed training with his teammates and was sitting down enjoying his dinner when his phone rang.
When he picked up the phone, on the other end was Maryland Terrapins Assistant Coach/Linebackers Coach Keith Dudzinski.
βHe acknowledged me as a player and briefly explained to me how he showed my tape to the Head Coach (Randy Edsall) and Defensive Line Coach (Chad Wilt) of Maryland and how they were impressed with my film,β recalled Gallimore of the phone conversation.Β βThen, he explained to me how he and the rest of the coaching staff would love to have me be a part of their team and represent the Terrapins.β
At the end of the conversation, Gallimore received his first NCAA offer from the Terrapins. It undoubtedly became one of the most memorable Thursdays he has experienced in his lifetime.
Gallimore is currently attending Canada Prep Football Academy and is playing for the Raiders.Β Among the other teams he has suited up for include St. Patrick Fighting Irish of National Capital Secondary School Athletic Association (NCSSAA), junior varsity Cumberland Panthers of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) and South Ottawa Mustangs.
While the defensive end is grateful for the offer, he wonβt rush into making a decision immediately, as he wants to keep all his options open.
βI still won’t be making my final decision for some time but this offer has truly opened many doors for me,β said Gallimore. Β βI have a lot of respect for the coaching staff of Maryland and they are a team that I admire extremely.β
βBut I don’t want to be quick to make a decision just yet. I probably won’t make a final decision until my senior year.β
