Calgary linebacker newest recruit to join CWUAA team’s 2014 class.

Zack McEachern likes what he felt and saw with his new gridiron home.

Consequently, the 6’0, 230 pound linebacker/longsnapper from Calgary, Alberta will be moving provinces for his CIS career.  Recently, he committed to the Regina Rams for the 2014 CWUAA season.

“One of the biggest factors in my decision to commit to University of Regina was the team atmosphere,” explained McEachern of his decision.   “I got a real sense of family from the moment I met the coaches as well as some of the players. “

“I’m excited to be a part of a successful organization such as the Rams.  Academically, their kinesiology facilities are top notch and their field work program is recognized internationally.”

The defensive standout recently suited up for the Calgary Colts of the Prairie Football Conference of the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL).  For his exceptional play this past season, McEachern was named an All-Canadian, PFC’s Outstanding Linebacker and PFC All-Star.

Other teams McEachern has previously played for include Dr. EP Scarlett Lancers of the Alberta Schools Athletic Association (ASAA) and South Calgary Midget Colts.  Additionally, he was selected to the Senior Bowl South team (2010) and represented his home province as a member of Team Alberta at the 2010 Football Canada Cup in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
