CFC TOP 100 Raishaun Provo and Austin Benn created late offensive magic to make the CFC # 25 St. Mary’s Monarchs’ second OFSAA Bowl experience an unforgettable one.
Provo connected with Benn for a 27 yard touchdown reception to lead the Monarchs to a come from behind 20-13 victory over CFC # 48 Westgate Tigers yesterday at the OFSAA Bowl Festival in Etobicoke.
The Monarchs got on the scoreboard in the second quarter as Provo found Josh Henry for a 35 yard major to out the team ahead.
Soon after, the Tigers evened things up as pivot Dillan Tataryn connected with Josh Whitehurst for a 20 yard touchdown score.
At halftime, both teams were tied 7-7.
In the third quarter, the Tigers gained the lead when Tucker Arnold dashed into the end zone for a 17 yard major.
However, Justice Johnson’s six yard touchdown tied things once again. The Benn touchdown sealed the victory for the Monarchs minutes later.
Provo had 15 completions in 22 attempts, 244 passing yards and two passing touchdowns in the game. Benn racked up 79 receiving yards on six catches while Henry added 68 receiving yards on four receptions. Defensively, David Dyer registered nine tackles and Davian Reid Lynch chipped in with seven tackles.
As for the Tigers, Arnold had 88 rushing yards. On defense, Austyn Hayes registered six tackles while Whitehurst added four tackles.
This win marks the first one in the Monarch’s two appearances. Previous to this Bowl game, the team played in the 2001 Golden Horseshoe Bowl.
