Montreal Carabins Foucault to attend NFL mini-camp

Offensive lineman David Foucault became the first player in the history of the Montreal Carabins to have the chance to play in the NFL. The 25- year-old from LaSalle was invited to the rookie mini- camp of the Carolina Panthers that will takeΒ place from Thursday to Saturday.

“I ‘m really happy”, said Foucault, “My agent called me yesterday quickly at the end of the NFL draft . The Panthers saw me play on video and they want to see me in personΒ and evaluate how I move in game situations.”

Foucault, aΒ six feet seven inches and 320 pounds athlete, was also invited to rookie mini- camp of the Miami Dolphins . However, Foucault has opted for the Panthers, the Dolphins have drafted several offensive linemen in the last draft session. Β “In talking with my agent , it was concluded that the situation could be more advantageous for me in Carolina as there may be less competition on the offensive line this season.”

“This is of course an important moment for our entire organization” , said Carabins head coach Danny Maciocia . “We begin to develop linemen for U.S. and Canadian leagues. We have a good network of contacts and we are here to support our student-athletes . We wish David maximum success in the professional ranks.”

Following this mini- camp , Foucault could be offered a contract by the Panthers or interestΒ from otherΒ NFL may materialize.

He is also ranked second in the Central Scouting Bureau of the Canadian Football League ( CFL ) for the draft next Tuesday.
