Mounties unveil β€œNew Age” helmet designs (video)

The Mount Allison Mounties have unveiled their uniforms for the 2013 season which features 2 new helmet designs.

One of the helmets will feature a blown-up version of the Mount Allison torch design in the shape of a wing. The other new design will feature the Mounties’ trademark β€œPride” slogan.

Mounties Head Coach Kelly Jeffrey recently took some time to comment on the new helmet designs:

β€œMount Allison has a long and proud tradition so we were not looking to completely overhaul things. We did want to update the design a little bit though because it keeps things fresh and exciting for our players and it also conveys a great message about our program.”

Coach Jeffrey elaborated on this message, saying β€œthe cool thing about the β€œPride” concept especially, is that it was completely developed by our players. Following the 2011 season, our leadership council created the concept of β€œMountie Pride” and since then we have developed our program around that concept.”

In addition to the new helmet designs, Coach Jeffrey believes that it speaks even more about the unique opportunities that Mount Allison affords its student-athletes.

β€œIt is important to give players ownership over the identity of their program and I think they have done a fantastic job creating something special. That is one of the unique things about Mount Allison, it is a small, tight-knit community and there is plenty of opportunity to create positive change. You do not have to be a bystander during your time here; you can create your own legacy.”

Coach Jeffrey went on to add, β€œOur leadership council is actually made up of players from each class. Leadership has no age requirement at Mount Allison and we want to give all of our student-athletes the opportunity to make their mark here.”

Excitement continues to grow around the Mounties’ program, and with training camp opening in just 28 days, the Mountie’s are excited to step back on the field and continue to build on the program’s success in 2012.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
