Muamba signs free agent contract with NFL’s Dallas Cowboys

After a roller coaster year, Henoc Muamba has found his way back to the NFL.

Almost close to a year since he was cut by the Indianapolis Colts in September 2015, media sources have said the 6’0, 242 pound linebacker signed a free agent contract with the Dallas Cowboys.

Muamba worked out with the Cowboys earlier in the day Saturday before being offered the contract.

Most recently, Muamba was with the CFL’s Montreal Alouettes until he was cut from the team this past February. Β During his short stint with the team, he recorded an interception and racked up 14 tackles in four games.

In 2014, the linebacker was a reserve player for the Colts and in 13 games, registered six tackles. He was cut at the end of the team’s training camp last summer.

The first pick in the 2011 CFL Draft, Muamba went to the Colts after a three year stint with the CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers. His breakout season was in 2013 when he was named a CFL All-Star as he caught an interception, recorded a sack, had a defensive major, a fumble recovery and amassed 106 tackles.

Other NFL teams in the past that Muamba had tryouts with were the New York Giants and Green Bay Packers.

Muamba, a native of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo previously suited up for both the CIS’ St. Francis Xavier X-Men and Father Michael Goetz Gators of the Region of Peel Secondary School Athletic Association (ROPSSAA).
