NCAA (Div 2): Wheeler earns Red Lion Offensive Player of the Week award

Portland, OR ā€“ Simon Fraser University Clan football quarterback Trey Wheeler (Seattle, WA) has been named the Red Lion Offensive Player of the Week in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
Wheeler completed 32 of 47 passes for 378 yards and four touchdowns as the Clan matched the GNAC record for most points scored in a conference game in a 66-38 win over Azusa Pacific at Terry Fox Field on Saturday.
The sophomore has had four of the five highest passing totals this fall in the GNAC through five weeks of play and led the Clan to a 654 yard offensive output against APU.
SFUā€™s 66 points against Azusa matched the record set by Humboldt State against the Clan on November 13, 2010, during the Clanā€™s first season in the GNAC.
He currently leads the GNAC in several offensive categories including total offensive yards, passing yards, touchdowns and completions.
Wheeler and the rest of the 3-3 Clan will be back in action this Saturday when they try to climb past the 0.500 mark against the Central Washington Wildcats.Ā  The game is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in Ellensburg, WA.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
