NCAA (Division 2): Durant named Red Lion Offensive Player of the Week

Burnaby, BC ā€“ Simon Fraser University football receiverĀ Lemar Durant(Coquitlam, BC) has earned the Red Lion Offensive Player of the Week Award in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

The 6-2, wide receiver hauled in 12 passes for 228 yards and four touchdowns in SFUā€™s 58-47 win over the Dixie State College Red Storm.

Durant tied a GNAC single game record for most touchdown receptions and his yardage total was just eight yards shy of the GNAC single-game record.

He had touchdown catches of 10, 73, 27 and six yards, four of the six touchdowns Clan quarterback Trey Wheeler (Seattle, WA) threw on the day to set a new GNAC record.

Durant leads the GNAC in receiving yards per game, is second to teammate Bobby Pospischil (Coquitlam, BC) in receptions per game and leads the conference in receiving touchdowns with 14, eight more than teammate Jamal Kett (Orangeville, ON) who is second in the GNAC.

Durant and the Clan will play their final home game of the 2012 season on Saturday when they host first place Humboldt State on Terry Fox Field at 2:00 p.m.
