NCAA Early Signing Period: Sunshine on the way for Okpoko who decides to sign with San Diego State

CFC100 DL Daniel Okpoko (St. Joseph’s – Saskatoon SK)
It’s been a long journey for Daniel Okpoko who blew up in recruiting circles over the past year, but his search for a program is finally over with him signing his official letter of intent to play for San Diego State on the first day of the NCAA early signing period.

Okpoko is another guy who decided to stick it out at St. Joseph’s in Saskatchewan, and his decision paid off with his exploits at the Canada Cup proving he was one of the best in the country, and NCAA teams took notice. He originally announced his commitment to the University of North Dakota in the FCS, but the allure of playing in a highly competitive conference in the FBS must have been to much to pass up on, and now he’ll be enjoying the California sun as a Aztec for the foreseeable future. Standing at 6’5”, 240lbs, Okpoko is the perfect size for a prototypical rush end with speed that will cause offensive linemen headaches, and he also has the strength to deal with the inevitable jump in talent he’s going to need to adjust to.

San Diego State are one of the top teams in the Mountain West Conference coming off a 10-2 year with a spot in the Armed Forces Bowl against Army on December 23rd, and they already have some Canadian blood on their roster with offensive linemen Ladji Bagayoko from St. Laurent, Quebec currently in his freshman year with the program.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
