When Cole Burniston announced that he would be a Buffalo Bull for the 2017 season, the time has come to make it official. He signed his LOI with Buffalo today.

“The past weeks have been stressful before having both official visits, but after getting to see both schools, and making up my mind I’ve been greatly relieved.” he says when we asked him how it was leading up to this day.

Originally from Ottawa, Ontario, Burniston has been playing his high school football at Canisius in Buffalo (NY). The 6’3, 225lbs senior said that he was able to take his major at both of the schools that his decision had come down to. So why did he pick Buffalo?

“When it came down to being able to live an hour away from home really sealed the deal, I’m a big family man, and I’m going to enjoy friends and family coming down and watching my play” he said.

He began his career with the Niagara Spears organization that compete in the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) where he played at the bantam and junior varsity levels. Ā In grade nine and ten, he suited up for the Blessed Trinity Thunder of the Niagara Region High School Athletic Association (NRHSAA).

Then, the athlete opted to head south of the border and join Buffalo, New York high school team, Canisius Crusaders in grade 11. Ā The move paid off as heĀ was selected as an All-Catholic Selection and The Buffalo News Sports third team All-WNY last season.

What to expect out of his freshman year? Cole says,”For freshman year I expect to play all the special teams I can get on, be a work horse on the field and in the weight room. I want to know the play book inside and out and be successful in the classroom. If my competitiveness lands me playing time , I’m going to seize the moment and take it for every thing it is.”
