Quebec defensive back makes final preparations for this weekend’s NFL Super Regional Combine in Detroit.

It’s almost time for Adam Thibault to step up on one of the biggest stages he’s ever experienced in his gridiron career.

The 6’0, 195 pound defensive back from Quebec City, Quebec, received an invite for the NFL Super Regional Combine which is set to take place in Detroit Michigan this weekend.

Thibault received his invite based on his performance at the NFL Regional Combine in Baltimore at the end of March.  In the vertical jump, he posted a mark of 38 inches.  He clocked 3.93 seconds in the short shuttle.

He posted these results while he was nursing a hamstring injury, which was sustained at during the 2014 CFL National Combine last month.  Thibault is on the heels of completing a successful CFL National Combine where he clocked the fastest 40 yard dash (4.454) and shuttle time (4.03). In the winter CFL Scouting Bureau rankings, he was ranked 13th top prospect for the 2014 CFL Draft.

While in Detroit, the defensive back would like reach his key objective, which is to improve upon those results from the previous combines.

“My goals for the combines are to beat all my currents personal bests,” explained Thibault.  “Most specifically, I’d like to run a forty of 4:39 or less, a T-test 3.92 or less, Vertical Jump of 39’ or more, Broad Jump of 9.7 or more and a Cone Drill 6.53 or less.”

In preparation for a successful combine, the Quebec standout plans to look after himself while doing a run through of the tests.

“In the next days, I’m taking care of my body a lot, so massage, hot and cold bath, foam roller, lots of sleep, naps in the afternoon, eating really well and get the supplements I need kindly given to me by XPN,” described Thibault.  “I will do light gym and the drills I’ll be doing at the NFL Combine.”

For Thibault, this marks culmination of years of hard work in his home province.  He played high school football for Polyvalente de l‘Ancienne Lorette, where he was awarded the Team’s Offensive Player of the Year.

Subsequent to that, he suited up for two CEGEP teams Beauce-Appalaches Condors (Division 2) and Champlain-Lennoxville Cougars (Division 1). During his CEGEP stint, he was named Beauce-Appalaches Athlete of the Year and was also selected as a CEGEP All-Star.

After he completed CEGEP he moved on to play for the Vanier Cup Champions, Laval Rouge et Or.  He received the Rouge et Or’s Most Improved Player. Last year, he was selected to participate in the CIS East West Bowl.

Now as he ventures onto one of the biggest stages he’s ever experienced, it is not lost upon Thibault all the helped he has received which has enabled him to get to this juncture in his career.

“I want to thank my partner XPN that provide me my supplements that helps me to be sure my body has everything it needs with my intense training,” expressed the Quebec defensive back.  “And as well I’d like to thank my trainer Guillaume Rioux who did an awesome job to prepare me for my combines.”

Moreover, Thibault hopes that his success has inspired other players to follow in his footsteps and seek the NFL dream.

“I hope it will encourage a lot of kids to work hard because they now know that anything is possible” said Thibault.  It’s not because we are from Canada that we are not as good athletes and football players as the Americans.”

“We have a lot of incredible coaches and trainers in Canada, and I’m sure that more and more Canadians will get to play in the NFL. But, for that, we need football players to be driven by the NFL motivation that dares to participate to combines and tryouts south of the border.”

It is this motivation that has been the guiding light for Thibault in his quest to make the NFL.  Ultimately, he hopes that he will be one step closer to realizing the NFL dream with a strong, yet impressive showing in this upcoming weekend’s Super Regional Combine.

“For me, I see that as a motivation that keeps getting bigger and bigger, because I know that I’m not there yet, but I’m getting closer,” commented Thibault.  “I will then need to improve my results and my football skills as I approach my ultimate goal of playing in the NFL.”
