Nova Scotia announces 2013 under-17 men’s provincial tackle team

Lantz, N.S– Football Nova Scotia is proud to announce the 41 man travel team who will be competing in the Wilson Challenge from July 7-14 in Montreal, Que.

Head Coach, Chris Valardo, commented on the progress of the team, “Team N.S. is very fortunate this year to have several returning players from last year’s team which brought a tough, scrappy on field presence that never gave up. This year’s team is a year older and is loaded with weapons on both sides off the ball.”

The team is equipped with top players across Nova Scotia between the ages of 13-16 who are being coached by men with impressive resumes, including some with experience in the CFL, CIS and nationally ranked St. Andrews College of the CISSA high school conference.

“Our defense is led by an outstanding defensive line and provincial team veteran Robie Holland. Our secondary is a smart, hard hitting group featuring enforcers such as Dion Tomas Hodges and new comer Jonah Williams,” explained Valardo.

“On offence we are very fortunate to have QB Cameron Valardo chose to return to play in N.S. after representing Ontario in Texas in February, leading the Ontario Selects to a dramatic 20-19 victory over Team USA,” continued Valardo. “Along with star running back Nick Tzanteaus, and a solid offensive line anchored by Josh Brown we expect to be a high octane, exciting offence.”

Team Nova Scotia faces off against Les Élites de Quebec at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 7.
