Former Ottawa Rough Rider, Rick Sowieta, passed away on Saturday morning.
Sowieta was diagnosed with stage 3 Pancreatic cancer a year and a half ago and battled hard to the very end. He was 63 years old.
Playing in the CFL for 10 seasons with the Ottawa Rough Riders and the Toronto Argos who drafted him in the first round in 1977, he later became a restaurant owner, teacher, and sales manager and director of sport for Football Canada.
Condolences go out to his family, friends, and football community.
