Ontario: d’Youville bounces back & Blessed Mother Teresa wins first ever football game

PEEL

Two weeks ago St. Marguerite d’Youville lost one of their star running backs during the fourth play of the game against Notre Dame to a broken collar bone. Along with a few other losses at full back, linebacker, and DE, the Panthers took a tough loss to Notre Dame 27-7.

This week the Panthers played at home and had to make a few personnel changes on both offense and defense. They looked very strong defensively, holding their opponent St. Augustine to no major threat in scoring. The Panthers offense managed to score two running touchdowns in the second half. RB Jadon Johnson opened up the scoring with a 32 yard power run for a TD. Panthers QB, Dwight Hennville also took one to the house on a 17 yard option play. The Panthers defense added another touchdown through a forced fumble by DE Justin Brum, and their convert team added two more points to the board when Jordan Lynch hooked up with Craig Asiah-Yeboah on an option swing pass. Overall, d’Youville looked pretty sharp all game, and beat St. Augustine by a final score of 21-0.

This week the d’Youville Panthers play at rivals St. Thomas Aquinas on Thursday. These two teams faced off in the ROPSSAA Championship game last year. d’Youville won that game 27-21.

TORONTO

Blessed Mother Teresa C.S.S. in Scarborough did something for the first time in school history this year…they started a football program. They played against Marc Garneau and won 28-6. Their next game is this Thursday against Bendale/Churchill.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
