The 6’0, 177 pound native of Grimsby, Ontario verbally committed to the NCAA Division 1 school after receiving a full scholarship this past fall.
“What led me to commit to UCONN was everything about the environment; the place is simply amazing to say the least,” explained Tarbutt of his decision back in the fall to CFC. “The facilities and academics are top notch and I believed that UCONN set my future up better than any other school.”
“They have been #1 on my list for the last while.”
Tarbutt led Canisius Crusaders, a high school in Buffalo, New York to an undefeated 9-0 record en route to the Catholic State Championship.
Moreover, the kicker/punter has suited up for the Niagara Spears of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).
Tarbutt is looking forward to joining the Huskies and hopes to make significant contributions in future years to come.
“I believe I’ll be able to contribute and fit in to the program nicely in a lot of ways,” added the Ontario kicker. “Whatever the team needs me to do or whatever the coach needs me to do, I’ll be prepared for it.”
With his signing, Tarbutt is one of three Canadians to join UCONN. CFC#7 receiver Hergy Mayala and defensive lineman Philippe Okounam also signed with the NCAA FBS team earllier today.
