Ontario kicker Suisham released by Pittsburgh Steelers

After experiencing tough year due to a torn Anterior Cruicate Ligament (ACL), Shaun Suisham’s 10 year career in the NFL could be coming to an end.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have opted to release the 6’0, 200 pound kicker from Wallaceburg, Ontario after he failed a physical:

Suisham suffered the injury at the 2015 Hall of Fame game and was unable to play this past season. Recently, he suffered a setback stemming from the injury.

The kicker began his NFL stint with the Dallas Cowboys in 2005. He moved on to suit up with the Washington Redskins in 2006 and remained there for three years until he rejoined the Cowboys for the last two games of the 2009 season.

In 2010, he joined the Steelers and stayed there up until and including the 2015 season. During his last campaign with the Steelers in 2014, he was perfect on PAT’s with 45 and also completed 29 of 32 field goal attempts. Β Overall, Suisham had 84.1 percent career field goal percentage as he completed 211 of 251 field goal attempts and 274 out of 276 PAT’s.

Previous to the NFL, Suisham played for NCAA Division 1 Football Bowl Subdivision’s (FBS) Bowling Green Falcons. Β North of the border, he suited up for Wallaceburg Titans of the Kent County Secondary School Athletic Association (KCSSAA).
