Navarre, who also goes by Monte, has played three years of outdoor football in the fall and three years of indoor football during the winter.

He now plays as a middle linebacker with the SEFA Bears.

At this year’s Ontario Prospect Challenge (OFC), Monte has high ambitions.

“My goal for the OPC is to get as much exposure as possible during these series tryouts and to make it as far as possible,” said Monte.

During the offseason, the Bears standout goes to the gym to keep up and improve his strength, speed and endurance.

“Honestly, I do focus more on my strength because it’s one of my best assets during a game,” added the linebacker.

He also joined an indoor football league during the winter to keep in practice. On Monday nights. he goes to fitness club to help boost him even more before the fall season comes around.

“Football is a sport that people always said they thought I should try because I was large, very strong and ‘solid,’” explained the Bear. “When I first stepped on the field, the game just came to me and I felt my instinct kick in.”

Since his first game football has always been his passion. It allows him to be able to give his all without having anything to hold back.

“My football role model is Ray Lewis,” commented Monte. “Like me he was middle linebacker and that’s why my jersey number is 51. It’s very close to his 52 but not the exact same.”

Monte explained how Lewis has to overcome many obstacles throughout his career, and he is still one of the greatest middle linebackers ever.

“He is my role model to show that hardwork, determination and focus are the keys to being [and doing] great things in life.”
