Lukas Boulanger dreams of entering medical school, and while a majority of his university career will be studying, his Cégep years will be full of football.

Boulanger will be joining the Champlain College Lennoxville Cougars (RSEQ Division 1) in the fall. The recruitment for this young player took off at the end of his high school football career. “Football means a lot to me as it’s a way for me to get to where I want to be in the future while having a blast,” he said.

“I like playing quarterback because the pressure is on you to give your team a chance at winning the game,” Boulanger added. “My speed is what gives me an edge.”

With his skill set, he said he hopes of becoming a starting quarterback in his freshman year. While he will wait and see where his football career takes him, while with the Cougars, his goal is clear: “help my team win a championship.”

There are plenty of quarterbacks to which you can look up to, but Boulanger said he tries to model his game after the college edition of Johnny Manziel. Manziel played NCAA football with Texas A&M University. “We have similar playing styles and his confidence of the field is unmatched,” Boulanger said.

Playing for eight years now, Boulanger formally played with Les Harfangs de l’école secondaire du Triolet (RSEQ) in high school. Now with Team Québec U18, he said he thinks he will be able to adjust to Cégep football by training with the team and his teammates in the off-season. In the regular season and playoffs, 2071 passing yards and was first in the league with 20 passing touchdowns. He rushed for 808 yards and was fourth in rushing touchdowns with eight. His impressive stats didn’t stop at football. He also won ‘Best Academic Average of the Team’ with an average of 94%.

And on the emotional support side, Boulanger has to look no further than his family and close friends. He said, “They keep me grounded and true to myself.”
