Kelowna defensive back newest recruit to join OUA team’s 2015 class.

The first time the Carleton Ravens laid eyes on Mackenzie Johnson, they knew they had to have him on their team.

On Wednesday, the Ravens were successful in their recruiting efforts.  The 6’2, 175 pound defensive back from Kelowna, British Columbia signed with the team.  Johnson will join the team for the 2015 OUA season.

Ravens Head Coach Steve Sumarah said the British Columbia defensive back will make a great addition to the team.

“We are very excited to have Mackenzie be a part of the Ravens Football program,” commented Sumarah.  “He is a 6’2” 200 pound athlete that can play corner or half.”

“He is someone we are looking forward to working and developing Mackenzie both in and out of the classrooms over the next five years.”

Johnson has played for the Mount Boucherie Bears of the British Columbia High School Football Association (BCHSFA) as well as the Westside Sun Devils.  During his gridiron career, he has received several honours including junior varsity Most Valuable Defensive Back, Most Sportsmanlike Player and Offensive Player of the Year.
