Looking to improve as an all-around athlete, Chris Massamba believes that playing football will contribute to many of the other sports he plays.

“Apart from football, I do a lot of other sports like volleyball, soccer, basketball and soon I will start doing athletics,” Massamba mentioned.

At 6’2 and 180lbs, Chris has only been playing for two years. However in those few years, he has won an MVP and Athlete of the Year.

As a wide receiver, the best part of his position is when the opponent is right in front of him. “The best part of my position is when the opponent in front is strong, because it allows me to outdo each game,” he explained.

There is no better pro at his position than Odell Beckham Jr. for the Cleveland Browns. While OBJ can have his moments, his agility and speed makes him one of the best. “Plus he is very skilled at catching the ball with one hand which many can not do easily in the NFL,” he added.

Chris also has his moments, but not like you think. “Many tell me that I am a good leader and that I am a very humble person,” he said. “I improved my “contest catches” because initially as soon as a cornerback played me physical, I lost my concentration and the ball I escaped a lot. But now this is no longer a problem because by [doing this kind] of training this difficulty no longer exists for me.”

Looking to try new challenges, Chris would like to participate in more combines and camps in order to continue to improve his skill. His hard work right now has paid off, though, as he has gone from 165lbs to 180lbs – all muscle. “I’m making a lot of progress in the weight room,” he said.

Hoping one day to play in university or the NCAA, he uses this to motivate him each day. He also would like to pursue Architecture, something he is keenly interested in. “We already had workshops to know if we liked it or not and I liked it. In addition I’m doing very well in plastic art,” he said.

A few coaches have been on his side from the start. “Yan Genest and Sébastien Blanchette because I learned the game at the beginning, they encouraged me and trusted me, which allowed me to surpass myself to show them that the player they “trained” “is improving day by day,” he said.

Not one to waste his words, when Chris say things, it’s like they are. There are no pretences and he always remains respectful and listens to others. “Especially, I am very disciplined,” he added.

The impact that CFCs have on me is that it motivates me to want to be ranked among the best in the province or country because it will allow me to get out of the map to attract the attention of recruiters elsewhere in the country or the United States.”
