Record-Setting Performance Earns Herdman Player of the Week Honours

PORTLAND, Ore. — Simon Fraser University linebacker Jordan Herdman was selected GNAC Defensive Player of the Week after his record-setting performance in the Clan’s loss last week against Humboldt State.

The 6-foot-2, 231-pound sophomore from Winnipeg, MB, is currently second in NCAA Division II in total tackles with 129 (14.3 per game) after his performance Saturday where he set three GNAC records in a 33-17 home loss to Humboldt State.

Saturday, Herdman had 27 total tackles, including 19 assists, to set GNAC single game records in both categories. He also set a GNAC single-season record for tackles, increasing his total to 129, breaking the record of 128 by Caleb Jessup of Western Washington in 2008.

Herdman is currently ranked 18th nationally with 54 solo tackles.

This Saturday, Nov. 8, Simon Fraser faces conference-leading Azusa Pacific Cougars at Swangard Stadium beginning at 1:00 pm. Azusa Pacific is unbeaten in the GNAC with a 5-0 record, 8-1 overall. The Cougars, coming off a 19-18 win over Western Oregon, are riding a seven game win streak that began with a 32-24 victory over Simon Fraser on September 20.
