Howard Tsumura of The Province is reporting that Jacques Chapdelaine has been offered the Simon Fraser Clan head coaching position and a press conference confirming him as the next head coach could take place early next week.
Chapdelaine is an alumni of the Clan program.Β Earlier this week CFC reported that Chapdelaine was being considered for the Concordia Stinger head coaching job.Β He left his position as offensive coordinator of the BC Lions in December and at that time it was reported he did so in order for he and his wife to move back east.
JACQUES CHAPDELAINE:

Chapdelaine may have an advantage over other applicants as he comes with previous CIS Head Coaching experience.Β From 1997-2000, the Sherbrooke, Quebec native was the Head Coach of the Laval Rouge et Or.Β Chapdelaine led the team to their first ever Vanier Cup victory in 1999. He has previously served as Offensive Coordinator with Bishopβs Gaiters.
As a player, Chapdelaine enjoyed a seven year career in the CFL as a slotback with four different teams β Calgary Stampeders, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Montreal Alouettes/Concordes and BC Lions.Β He has won the Grey Cup three times in his career. He was drafted in the first round (fifth overall) in the 1983 CFL Draft by the Lions.
