RSEQ Juvenile 1 Week 6: CFC#5 Blizzard hands CFC#10 Cactus first defeat

College Notre-Dame Cactus is no longer perfect.

The previous CFC#3 Cactus fell to previous CFC#9 Seminaire Saint Francois Blizzard 24-18 in the National Game of the Week in RSEQ Juvenile 1.

As a result of the win, the Blizzard (5-1) move up to number five in the CFC TOP 50 rankings while the Cactus (5-1) drop to number 10.

Patrick Serre scored two touchdowns while Simon-Pierre Latulippe amassed 124 receiving yards on four catches (average of 31 yards per catch) and tallied a major to lead the Blizzard to victory.

On defense, Louis-Pierre Ouellet registered 7.5 tackles (five solo, five assisted) while Eric Verreault and Raphael Gaudreault-Gabourye each caught interceptions.  Nicolas Theriault and Sean Cote each recorded two sacks while Thomas Gagnon added a single sack.

Joel Bouchard scored a major while Guillaume Beland caught an interception and ran it into the end zone for a touchdown for the Cactus.

Nicolas Prince was in beast mode on the Cactus’ defense as he amassed 17.5 tackles (12 solo, 11 assisted) in a losing cause.  Julien Le Guéhennec added 11 tackles (seven solo, eight assisted) and recorded a sack while Bruno Lagace chipped in with 10 tackles (six solo, eight assisted).  Nathan Kneeshaw-Smargiassi caught an interception for the Cactus.

CURE-ANTOINE LABELLE WOLVES 42, ACADEMIE LES ESTACADES 14:

Ryth-Jean Giraud was on an offensive tear this past weekend as he scored five touchdowns and rushed for 192 yards on 15 carries (average of 12.8 yards per carry) to lead CFC#15 Cure-Antoine Labelle Wolves to a 42-14 crushing of Academie Les Estacades.

Daniel-Aziz Skaf also tallied a major for the Wolves.  Running back Samuel Makwanda rushed for 172 yards.

On defense, Philippe Michaud registered nine tackles (seven solo, four assisted) while Kean Harelimana chipped in with seven tackles (five solo, four assisted), recorded a sack and caught in interception in the victory.  Vincent Rousseau caught an interception.  Marc-Darley Casseus, Luc-Ralph Lazarre and Sylvain Cronier all recorded sacks for the Wolves.

The Wolves move to 4-2 on the season while Les Estacades drop to 2-4.

Francis Blais tallied both majors for Les Estacades.  Tchad Ayotte was a monster on defense as he registered 16 tackles (12 solo, eight assisted).  Kelsey Fontaine and Simon Torres recorded sacks while Jeremy Berube caught an interception in a losing cause.

SAINT-JEAN EUDES CONDORS 58, COLLEGE JEAN EUDES EAGLES 38:

In another battle of two CFC TOP 50 squads, CFC#21 Saint-Jean Eudes Condors (4-2) defeated CFC#26 College Jean Eudes Eagles (4-2) 58-38.

Gabriel Brault rushed for 216 yards on 22 carries (average of 9.8 yards per carry) and scored three touchdowns to lead the Condors offense.  Charles Eric Bernier-Cloutier, Jeffrey Lemelin and Nikolas-Frédérick Therrien tallied single majors for the victors.

Condors quarterback David Pelletier had 12 completions in 21 attempts for 185 passing yards, three passing touchdowns as well as rushing for 55 yards on nine carries and one rushing major.

Despite the Eagles loss, Dean Dalaroy was in beast mode as he was unstoppable on the field.  The running back amassed 305 rushing yards on 30 carries (average of 10.5 yard per carry) and scored three touchdowns. Also, Shawn Lafortune tallied two majors (one receiving, one rushing).

Quarterback Zacharie Quiviger had 33 completions in 50 attempts for 289 passing yards, one touchdown and three interceptions.

ACADEMIE SAINT-LOUIS ARSENAL 40, ROGER COMTOIS 21:

Philippe Lessard-Vezina scored three touchdowns as CFC#30 Academie Saint-Louis Arsenal (4-2) were victorious over Roger Comtois (1-5) 40-21.

Lessard Vezina had 137 receiving yards on seven catches (average of 19.7 yards per catch) and two receiving majors as well as 153 rushing yards on 27 carries and a rushing major.  Antoine Poire and Samy Royer both scored touchdowns in the win.

Quarterback Zachary Cloutier has 21 completions in 33 attempts for 354 passing yards, three touchdowns and one interception.

Defensively, Christophe Poulin-Lapierre registered seven tackles (four solo, six assisted).

As for Roger Comtois, Jean-Gabriel Baril and Christophe Tremblay-Harness tallied majors.  On defense, Guillaume Caron led the way with 12.5 tackles (10 solo, five assisted) while Benjamin Boisvert caught an interception.

TRIOLET HARFANGS 37, JACQUES ROUSSEAU 13:

Jean Simon Gouin-Verrette scored four touchdowns and rushed for 155 yards and 14 carries (average of 11.1 yards per carry) to lead the Triolet Harfangs  (1-5) 37-13 over Jacques Rousseau (0-6).

Carius Michaud also tallied a major and rushed for 123 yards on seven carries (average of 17.6 yards per carry) in the win.

Boka-Cédric-Axel Kouao led the defense with 11 tackles (10 solo, two assisted) and recorded a sack.  Dominic Brazeau caught two interceptions and recorded three sacks.

As for Jacques-Rousseau, Eric Beausoleil-Lemoine scored both of the team’s touchdowns and rushed for 142 yards on 10 carries (average of 14.2 yards per carry).  Marco Philipe led the defensive with seven tackles and recorded a sack.
