SASK HIGH SCHOOL RECAP (5): Kuski guides CFC#6 Suns, CFC#9 Tartans scores non-conference win & Arndt unstoppable

Another week of action is in the books in the high school football season in Saskatchewan.

Here is a glimpse of some of the games that took place in Regina, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw.

REGINA INTERCOLLEGIATE FOOTBALL LEAGUE (RIFL):

SCHWANN CONFERENCE (4A):

Semba and Brayden

CFC#6 LEBOLDUS GOLDEN SUNS 59, BALFOUR BEARS 12:

Brayden Kuski completed 10 passes in 14 attempts for 250 yards and four passing touchdowns as CFC#6 Leboldus Golden Suns cruised to a 59-12 victory over Balfour Redmen.

Semba Mbasela continued his season tear as he tallied two majors and rushed for 206 yards. Finley Easton scored two touchdowns and amassed 100 yards on two receptions.  Michael Scraper added a score and racked up 101 yards on four receptions for the Golden Suns. Terrell Mildenberger had a major and 46 yards on two receptions in the win.

Josh Donnelly and Barrett Tippett each scored a touchdown.

“The keys to victory were a high level of execution in all three phases of the game,” commented Golden Suns Head Coach John Foord.  “Great leadership form the veteran players and an unselfish team first attitude.”

“The offensive line and downfield blocking was key to the running game success.  The passing game was very strong and accounted for a 31 point second quarter.  On defence, the front seven on controlled the LOS while the coverage was very solid.”

Munir Majien

CFC#9 CAMPBELL TARTANS 23, SASKATOON BETHLEHEM STARS 12:

Despite a bye this past week, CFC#9 Campbell Tartans scored a 23-12 non-conference win over Saskatoon Bethlehem Stars.

Munir Majien, Isaac Sandomirsky and Avery Pierce each had a touchdown.

On defence, Aidan Mann, Matt Splett and Kane Knauss each caught an interception for the Tartans.

“This was a great use of our bye week, as it allowed our team to have a focus and it allowed us to concentrate on our younger players to give them the vast majority of valuable playing time in Saskatoon,” said Tartans Head Coach Ryan Hall after the game.  “Our grade 9s and 10s really improved throughout the game.”

“We needed a good week last week to help prepare us for what will be our toughest challenge of the season when we play the defending champion LeBoldus Golden Suns this week.”

Kyle Arndt

MOOSE JAW HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL LEAGUE (MJHSFL):

PEACOCK TORNADOES 35, CENTRAL CYCLONES 11:

This past weekend at Gutheridge Field, Kyle Arndt was invincible as he scored five touchdowns and rushed for 278 yards as the Peacock Tornadoes cruised to a 35-11 win over Central Cyclones.

So far in 2015, Arndt has been on a tear as he has tallied 15 majors and rushed for 732 yards.

For the Cyclones, Ryan Reidy connected with Aiden Coleman for a 63 yard touchdown

With this win, the Tornadoes keep their 24 game winning streak alive. The last time the Tornadoes lost was during the 2012 season.
