AUS champions add Sault Ste Marie receiverĀ
The Mount Allison Mounties recently signed Sean Mcgonigal to the football program.
Mcgonigal, the 6ā4, 190 pound receiver from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario will join the team for the 2015 AUS season.
āSean is an advanced route runner who shows good consistency catching the ball for a young receiver,ā commented Mounties Head Coach Kelly Jeffrey.Ā Ā āHe uses his body well to shield defenders and will be a welcomed addition to a young group.ā
The Ontario receiver returns back to the game after taking a one year hiatus from the game.Ā Previously, he redshirted a season with the Guelph Gryphons. During his career, he led the Superior Heights Steelhawks of the Northern Ontario Secondary School Association to an OFSAA Bowl Championship.Ā Additionally, he suited up for the Sault Sabrecats of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).
Ultimately, the strength of both the football and academic programs made the decision easy for Mcgonigal.
āI chose Mount Allison simply because the coaches believe in me and see my potential,ā explained the receiver of his choice.Ā āMount Allison also has the program I want to be in so the fit is perfect.ā
āThe football program is clearly one of the best in the country; they have some of the best coaches in the country. All around, it is a championship caliber program.ā
