Season to remember: CFC100 Jake Ounsted racked up some accolades over the season

In 12 games, CFC100 Jake Ounsted registered 60 tackles, 15 QB sacks, 21 TFLs, and 4 forced fumbles. What a season!

The 6-foot-1, 260-pound defensive tackle has a few memorable moments of the season.

My most memorable moments of my senior year was when we (Mt Doug) came back from a 28-7 third quarter deficit to beat #2 ranked Seaquam. We scored two late fourth quarter touchdowns to win 35-28,” he recalled. He goes on to say that he also was honoured to be named a BC Provincial All-Star as well as the CFC defensive player of the week twice.

Being a CFC Insider member has “greatly benefited” Ounsted as it allowed him to see other talent from across the country as well as helping him to raise his own football profile. Which is important as he goes into the offseason and big decisions are to be made where he will continue his football career.

My off-season plans are to train hard and decide where to play university football.  My training will include weightlifting and speed training 6 days a week,” he said. “I have scholarship offers from several USports Universities and I am looking at NCAA Division 1 opportunities.”

It’s these opportunities that Ounsted realized wouldn’t have been made possible without some key people and support in his life.

“I would like my Parents, all of my Mt. Doug coaches and teammates/brothers.  The last four years have been the best in my life,” he said. “I am excited for the next level but I will always remember my teammates and the times we have had.  I will always be Mt Doug Ram.”
