Simon Fraser announces first 15 commits

The Simon Fraser University football team has added 15 new players to the program for the fall of 2013.

“This has been a bit of a unique year, we’ve added 15 new players,” said Head Coach Dave Johnson. “Since the transition from the CIS to the NCAA we’re now able to identify the right kind of kids that are committed to academics and athletics, allowing us to target the best of the best.”

Head coach Dave Johnson‘s 2013 recruiting class is expected to grow to upwards of 30 players, and the new additions thus far include some top high school talent as well as junior college transfers.

“We really feel like locally we’ve been able to cherry pick the best athletes and we think we’ve got some of the best athletes available,” continued Johnson.

“We’re in a unique situation in last year we had five players drafted to the CFL that came back to play their senior year and we needed to replace those guys and luckily we were able to bring in some junior college transfers that address those needs,” said Johnson.
