South of the Border: NFL Training Camp roundup and three CFC100s ready to shine in the NCAA

  • Unfortunately since training camp began, a couple of Canadians have suffered significant injuries. Indianapolis Colts tackle Carter Oā€™Donnell suffered a season ending injury and has been placed on IR. 2019 first-rounder Nā€™Keal Harry who was recently dealt to the Bears where he was battling for a starting spot, suffered yet another injury in his young career, as itā€™s been announced heā€™s dealing with a high-ankle sprain that will keep him out for 6-8 weeks.

U SPORTS/NCAA COMMITS

  • CFC100 WR Brayden Lenius was released by the Atlanta Falcons last week. The 6ā€™5ā€, 225lbs receiver, who was formerly a heavier college tight end, started for the Roughriders last year before deciding to explore NFL opportunities this offseason. Through 14 games in 2021 he had 37 catches for 471 yards and 4 TDs.

U SPORTS/NCAA CONSIDERATIONS

  • Bruce Feldman of the Athletic put out his annual College Football Freaks List this week, and it featured three CFC100s. Illinois RB Chase Brown and S Sydney Brown made the list after losing 3 pounds of fat and gaining 4 pounds of muscle, and losing 1 pound of fat and gaining 7 pounds of muscle respectively this offseason. Texas State OL Kyle Hergel was featured later on the list, as the 6ā€™2ā€, 300lbs lineman benched 500lbs while running a 5.01 40 and jumping a 34 inch vertical.
